But the whole concept of stock didn’t last long and the next thing you know there was a turbo strapped onto that 5.3-liter engine. He decided to drop in a stock 5.3 LS with a Turbo 350 tranny behind it (engine three). He knew what needed to happen, and he needed Chevy power. He hated the carburetor as it kept vapor-locking due to heat during a summer cruising it around town. ![]() Josh went the Ford route at first and swapped in a Ford 460 (engine two) with a carburetor on it. ![]() The first engine that came from the factory, a 360 mated to a three-speed transmission, was no good by the time Josh purchased the vehicle in 2016 (we will call this engine one). Let’s go through the carnage and count the engines. The powerplant pumping life into the Ford is a relatively stock 323 cubic-inch, iron block 2001 Chevy LS engine with an LSA supercharger slapped on top, using a 2.35 upper pulley in combination with a stock Chevy truck lower pulley.
